Designers of Ikea

The first complete presentation of the creators behind the world’s
most successful furniture enterprise. Ikea’s design-ers have
long been anonymous to the majority of us, but from the very outset
the company engaged skilled designers for its furniture production.
In 1995 the company invested heavily in an even stronger contemporary
design profile with its PS series, and since then Ikea has won both
the red dot award and the Excellent Swedish Design award for its
products. As a result, in addition to creating lovelier everyday
things for our homes, Ikea has also created furniture that is now
eagerly sought after by collectors the world over and in auction
rooms.
Ikea’s Designers presents all these faces behind the huge
output of “democratic design” on offer in the Ikea catalogues,
both in Sweden and worldwide. A lot of space is devoted to recent
years’ commitment to eminent Swedish and international designers.
The account is accompanied by a large number of unique illustrations
ranging from the company’s first, limited range to its vast
present-day collection of turn-key beauty for Everyman.
